Overview

This eCourse consists of two modules. Module 1 describes how financial services is a unique and singular business in the risk it generates for financial institutions, their customers, and the wider economy, and consequently why regulation is so critical. It also shows how regulations today have been shaped by the events of the global financial crisis, and introduces the arsenal of tools now available to regulators in meeting their objectives.

Module 2 describes the regulatory framework and the key financial authorities operating in four major Asian economies – Japan, China, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

Objective

On completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Recognize the reasons why extensive financial regulation is necessary
- Identify the various tools available to financial market regulators
- Describe the financial regulatory environment in the following Asian economies; Japan, China, Hong Kong and Singapore
