Overview
The Insurance Authority (IA) will commence direct regulation over insurance intermediaries on 23 September 2019, marking another important milestone in the development of the Hong Kong insurance industry. Since its establishment in December 2015, the IA has been stepping up its efforts to foster market sustainability and promote the industry’s global competitiveness. At our upcoming luncheon, Dr Moses Cheng will share with the audience the IA’s focus and priorities, and his views on the future development of the industry.

Dr Cheng is the Consultant of a law firm, after having served as its Senior Partner for over 20 years. His areas of practice cover capital markets, corporate governance, regulatory, and compliance. He has been actively contributing to the community, and is currently a member of the Financial Leaders Forum and a Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Finance. He has also served in various important positions, including Chairman of the Education Commission, government-appointed Director on the Board of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited, and founding Vice-Chairman of the Estate Agents Authority.
