Overview

This eCourse consists of two modules. Module 1 looks at the development of the Eurobond and international bond markets for nondomestic bond markets securities and their key features.

Module 2 provides a high-level overview of the European bond market and its key sectors. The European bond market is a large and liquid debt market. It is comprised of various bond sectors, including sovereign bonds, corporate bonds, agency bonds, and covered bonds.

Objective

On completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Recall the origins of the Eurobond market
- Recognise how the prices of securitised bonds are expressed as spreads and how different risks affect such prices
- Define the European bond market and list its key sectors
- Identify issuance procedures for European bonds
- Identify the structure of European bond trading markets
- Quantify the impact of regulation on bond trading market operations
