Overview

This eCourse will be accessible from 26 July to 27 November 2021.

This is the Unit 2 of the training programme in pursuing the “Trust Training Certificate” (“TTC”).

This eCourse is based on the recorded webinar session held on 23 March 2021. For participants who plan to take the TTC Part A Examination in November 2021, please ensure you read the latest version of study guide and materials provided via the examination enrolment link.

In line with the Unit 2 study guide, this eCourse consists of 2 modules.

Module 5: Retention of Control

Objective

On completion of the course, you will be able to:
1. Recognise the common types of trusts for estate planning purposes
2. Recognise the common types of trusts for investment purpose
3. Recognise the common types of trusts for employee benefits purposes
4. Appreciate the limitations of certain jurisdictions for some types of trusts
5. Recognise the common types of trusts if retention of control is a key consideration of the Settlor
6. Explain how these types of trusts could provide for retention of control by the Settlor or others and why
7. Recognise which jurisdictions offer the solutions
8. Elaborate common applications e.g. reserve power trust, VISTA
9. Identify the problems with retention of control trusts

Who Should Attend

The course is primarily targeted to those who would like to pursue the "Trust Training Certificate" in order to apply for the Hong Kong Trustees' Association Certified Trust Practitioner™ designation.

It is also relevant to those who would like to gain a solid understanding of the course subject matter and / or those who plan to enter the Trust industry sector.
