Overview

This eCourse consists of two modules. Module 1 describes the features and characteristics of various alternative assets, including real estate, private equity, hedge funds, infrastructure, exchange-traded funds, commodities, currencies, liquid alternatives, distressed securities, credit derivatives, managed futures, volatility, and art and other collectibles.

Module 2 looks at the key characteristics of hedge funds and provides an outline of the development of the hedge fund industry. It then discusses the key players in the hedge fund industry and the roles they perform.

Objective

On completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Recognize the characteristics of alternative assets and how the market has developed
- Identify the different types of alternative asset
- Define what a hedge fund is and describe the main characteristics of a hedge fund
- Identify the key players in the hedge fund industry
