Overview

‘Big Data’ has been the talk of the town in recent years. Organisations have gathered, stored and analysed data to gauge customer behaviour, initiate marketing push, and deliver better goods and services.

Many organisations, including licensed corporations and registered institutions, take data protection for granted or think of it as an IT issue. However, recent high-profile incidents have increased the sensitivity to the security of data held by organisations.

This training provides an insight into data management with practical examples and discusses how individuals and organisations can comply with the relevant regulatory requirements.

Simon THORPE

As an internal control and regulatory risk specialist, Simon has been at the forefront of developments in regulatory risk for over 25 years. He has managed risk, internal audit, fraud prevention, compliance and corporate governance initiatives across Asia, the US and Europe. Most recently, Simon managed a data risk and governance function at one of Hong Kong's largest international banks.
