Trust Training Certificate (TTC) – Unit 2: Types of Trusts and When Appropriate (5th Cohort)

Overview

This eCourse will be accessible from 12 October 2020 to 29 November 2020.

This is the Unit 2 of the training programme in pursuing the “Trust Training Certificate” (“TTC”).

This eCourse is developed in relation to the special arrangement for the participants joining the TTC Part A training in October and November 2020. It is prepared based on the recorded version of the last class (face-to-face mode) of Unit 2 done on 3 October 2019. For the participants who will take the TTC Part A Examination in December 2020, you should ensure you read the latest version of study guide and materials provided via the examination enrolment link.

In line with the Unit 2 study guide, this eCourse consists of 2 modules.
Module 4: Types of Trust and their uses
Module 5: Retention of Control

In each module, you must watch the recorded video and then pass the assessment (with unlimited attempts).

Objective

On completion of the course, you will be able to:
1. Recognize the common types of trusts for estate planning purposes
2. Recognize the common types of trusts for investment purpose
3. Recognize the common types of trusts for employee benefits purposes
4. Appreciate the limitations of certain jurisdictions for some types of trusts
5. Recognize the common types of trusts if retention of control is a key consideration of the Settlor
6. Explain how these types of trusts could provide for retention of control by the Settlor or others and why
7. Recognize which jurisdictions offer the solutions
8. Elaborate common applications e.g. reserve power trust, VISTA
9. Identify the problems with retention of control trusts

Who Should Attend

The course is primarily targeted to those who would like to pursue the "Trust Training Certificate" in order to apply for the Hong Kong Trustees' Association Certified Trust Practitioner™ designation.

It is also relevant to those who would like to gain a solid understanding of the course subject matter and / or those who plan to enter the Trust industry sector.
