[Webinar] Latest Developments of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (“GBA”) Cross-boundary Wealth Management Connect (“WMC”)

Overview

On 24 January 2024, the People’s Bank of China published the revised “Implementation Arrangements for the Cross-boundary WMC Pilot Scheme in the GBA” (“Implementation Rules”) to enhance the Cross-boundary WMC Pilot Scheme in the GBA (“WMC 2.0”). As part of WMC 2.0, eligible licensed corporations (“LCs”) are allowed to offer cross-boundary wealth management services in the GBA, and wider choice investment products are available. In this connection, the Securities and Futures Commission (“SFC”) has also issued a set of guidance and FAQ for LCs which wish to participate in WMC 2.0.

Adams has been providing regulatory advisory services to various financial institutions in the Greater Bay Area. He has led various regulatory projects of different nature, including internal control/compliance reviews, regulatory investigations and advisory projects on regulatory requirements.

Adams has provided consulting services to many banking institutions and assisted them in launching the Cross-Boundary WMC business (both southbound and northbound).

Gary is a Partner in the Risk Assurance Practice of PwC Hong Kong with over 24 years of experience. He specialises in the financial services sector including banking, asset and wealth management and insurance industries.

Gary's areas of expertise and experience include business process and application controls, IT systems and operational procedures implementation, e-banking/e-trading/e-payment, virtual bank and fintech, cyber security and data protection, corporate governance, operations and technology outsourcing, regulatory compliance and reporting, testing management, due diligence and process integration, business continuity and resilience management. Gary has provided consulting services to the banks during their implementation of GBA Cross-Boundary WMC business.

He is a regular speaker for technology risk, Fintech and GBA related industry forums, seminars and training events.

Yuri is a Senior Manager in the Financial Services Risk and Regulation Practice of PwC Hong Kong. She has 15 years experiences in providing advisory and audit services to licensed corporations and other financial institutions.

She specialised in regulatory advisory services covering corporate governance, internal control design effectiveness and operating effectiveness. She provided rich experience in the launch of new business to support client in building of policies and procedures, review the processes and controls in accordance with regulatory requirements. Yuri has provided consulting services to the banking institutions for the implementation of Cross-Boundary WMC business.
